Heading into the mountains on a snowmobile is one of the greatest experiences one can endure. However, along with that fun comes some levels of avalanche risk. To help mediate some of that risk, it is essential that you have the right equipment in the event your get caught in an avalanche.
Gear plays a critical role in avalanche safety. It’s simple: when in avalanche terrain, you must carry the right gear and know how to use it. This gear can help you assess snowpack stability or rescue an avalanche victim. There is typically no time to get help: the only reliable rescue is for a touring party to rescue its own avalanche victims.
